At least once a week since the stay at home order started, we’ve been doing a fun dinner like appetizers. Since we can’t have a party, we thought we’d at least make dinner enjoyable.

We did fondue one night and last week we had a charcuterie board date night and next on our list is appetizers featuring this delicious bacon jalapeno cheese ball!

Making the perfect cheese ball is easy, and they are a crowd pleaser, even if the “crowd” is just your own family.

We are trying to keep things uplifting, positive and fun around here since we’re cooped up in the house which is why we’ve been doing some dinners that are a little different!

YES! Okay okay, truth be told I haven’t tried ALL OF THEM, but if you’re a fan of jalapeno poppers, or anything with bacon and cheese, you’re gonna love these.

Is this Jalapeno Popper Cheese Ball with Bacon keto?

Sure is fam! The cheese ball recipe is keto, but you’ll need to make sure you have keto-friendly dippers and scoopers on hand. Things like celery sticks are great but you could use pork rinds if that’s your thing.

Are cheese balls easy to make?

SO easy. Just mix your ingredients, form into a ball. Or a log. Or another shape, whatever you want, you’re making the big decisions here.

Then pop that dude into the fridge and you’re ready to partayyyyyy.

How long does a cheese ball stay fresh in the refrigerator?

In a sealed container, your jalapeno popper cheese ball should last at least several days, possibly a week or more depending on how fresh the ingredients used were, and how long it sits out when you’re serving.

If you know you’re not going to finish the whole cheese ball, it might be better to cut in half and store the two halves separately or make two smaller balls.

Can you freeze a cheese ball?

Yes! If you decide to save your cheese ball for later, you can wrap it and store in an airtight container in the freezer.

Simply remove from the freezer and put in the fridge for at least 24 hours to thaw before serving.

How do you serve a cheese ball?

When you’re ready to party, take your jalapeno popper cheese ball out of the refrigerator, about 15-20 minutes or so before you plan to serve it to allow it to soften just slightly for maximum scoopage.

Put on a plate and serve with crackers, sturdy potato chips, veggie sticks, pretzels or whatever you like!

Bacon Jalapeño Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  • 2 packages cream cheese, softened
  • 3 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped, divided
  • ½ cup chopped pecans, divided
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup finely chopped bacon
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, half of the chopped jalapenos, half of the pecans, cheddar cheese, half of the bacon, seasonings, and Worcestershire sauce until completely blended.
  2. Mix the remaining jalapenos, pecans, and bacon. Set aside.
  3. Using plastic wrap, shape the cheese mixture into a ball. Transfer to a serving plate. Press the remaining jalapeno mixture into the sides.
  4. Refrigerate at least one hour prior to serving.
  5. Serve with crackers or vegetable dippers.

Notes

Skip the pre-shredded cheese! Cheese that comes already shredded has a funky powdery coating to prevent the cheese from clumping in the bag. Do yourself a favor and shred your own cheese for this recipe!
