We Bought a House!

Our First House

If you follow me on Facebook, you might have already heard the news, but WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

This will be our very first house, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been renting apartments/townhomes/houses for the last 10 years and I am so very thankful that we are able to finally own one. There’s been a lot of financial struggle in our past and it seemed like every time we got a step ahead, we were pushed a step backward. We struggled with bills, finally got our credit scores up high enough to qualify for a mortgage and then decided we wanted to get married first. Though we had a budget wedding, it still wiped out most of our savings.

We received a lot of very generous cash gifts for our wedding (for which we were extremely grateful) but then wound up using all of it to fund our move from Minnesota to Oregon for my husband’s new job.

We kept having to “start over” because something was always getting in the way of purchasing a home.

Well not anymore!

It’s possible that I am super excited.

It’s very possible that you will see lots more photos (including before and after pics) of the inside.

It’s even more possible that things will be a little slow around here until we get packed, cleaned, moved, cleaned, unpacked and settled in the new place.

For those of you keeping track, yes, we just moved here in November. Yes we’re moving again. No, U-haul does not have a frequent renter punch card where the 5th move is free. Though I wish they did, because I have moved at least a dozen times in my adult life! (As a direct result, I’ve complied a bunch of great tips for moving on a budget!)

Anyway, my apologies in advance for the sporadic posting. I plan to have lots of fun decor/DIY posts for you once we get settled. I even intend to finish my Pottery Barn Bedford Knockoff Desk one of these days…no seriously, I will. I have to refinish it (I’ll explain more later about that whole fiasco) but since I have to take it apart to move it to the new house, I intend to refinish it before I put it back together.

Thanks everyone for their patience and well-wishes. This truly was a long time coming, and we are so blessed to be able to purchase this home, and I’m so excited to share with you all our budget friendly projects we have in mind!
