I got a lot of really positive feedback about my August Blog Income Report, so I have decided to continue this post for those of your who are curious. I think this month is especially interesting because it was a slower month for me, and significantly smaller income than last month. I think its important for bloggers to realize that income is fickle and can vary immensely from month to month. If you’re considering quitting your job to blog, just keep that in mind! Income from blogging can be really inconsistent, just like many other self-employment ventures. I do make the majority of my income from virtual assisting (I sub-contract through another VA) but that’s because that income is much more dependable and consistent than blogging income.
Here’s the breakdown. Like last month, money in the “review products” category was not paid to me in cash. That is the “market value” of the item I received for free in exchange for reviews. You may not have seen most of the reviews on my blog, because a lot of them are only posted to Amazon, but some products I do review on my blog (like last month when I did the review of our new Spindle Mattress!)
And just a reminder: this post is done in the spirit of curiosity and transparency, NOT intended to be boastful in any way. If you have questions about any of this I’m happy to answer them to the best of my ability!
Google Adsense: $122.28
Sponsored Posts: $700
Virtual Assisting: $720
*Review Products: $304.43
(Total Cash: $1542.28)
Grand Total: $1846.71
* I included the value of products I was given in exchange for review. I do not do paid reviews-I believe they tend to be biased, no monetary payment was given to me for the reviews. The dollar amount shown is the total retail price for the items I received to review (and subsequently keep).
My VA income was less this month than last month due to some shifts in clients and a short-term “extra” project ending. It does vary somewhat every two weeks but I generally know what to expect ahead of time.
My pageviews have dipped a bit recently due to my lack of posts, so I would like to get my traffic back up to closer to 50,000 page views (right now I’m hovering just below 40,000. I am terrible about being consistent, and that’s a cardinal sin among bloggers!
