It’s Finally Friday and it’s also time for the Frugal Pin of the Day. Today’s Frugal pin comes with perfect timing as the cold season is rapidly approaching. *COUGH*

Today’s Frugal Pin of the day is a home remedy. I have mixed feelings about home remedies. Some are fantastic, others are a total flop. I have yet to try this one, but just knowing what I know about the ingredients involved this one sounds like a winner!

Nancy over at Good Food Matters posted this excellent recipe for homemade elixir called Maggie’s Cough Remedy. It’s a simple remedy made with a few ingredients you likely have at home. I love this because not only is it better for you than chemical laden medications, but it has less side effects, AND it’s super cheap to make!

It keeps without refrigeration but you will want to make it in small batches just in case. This is great for those situations where you’re feeling crummy, but don’t want to be overly medicated (like if you have to drive!) I think I might need to whip up a batch of this homemade cough/cold remedy because I have felt a touch of the winter ickies already creeping into my throat and sinuses.

Head on over to Good Food Matters and give Nancy a shout and thank her for posting this recipe!

About An Exercise In Frugality

I live in Minnesota with my wonderful fiance, Andrew, my dog Bear, and my cat Loki. I started couponing in July of 2011 as a financial necessity. We were broke, in debt and on a dangerous path. Since I have learned to coupon, I have saved literally thousands of dollars, enabling us to get our finances back on track, and save money to pay for our wedding, and purchase our first home (which we plan to do in the next year!).
