If you’ve been shopping at Walgreens lately, you’ve probably seen their Balance Rewards program advertised. What is it? How does it work? Read on to find out!
Walgreens Balance Rewards:
Walgreens has introduced a new program called Walgreens Balance Rewards. It does not replace their current Register Rewards system, but rather supplements it. You earn points for purchasing items, getting vaccinations and filling prescriptions, and you can redeem those points for dollars off items in store and online.
AARP members get exclusive benefits each month.
Get 5,000 points when you spend $25 in a single purchase – plus 5 special point offers. Link your memberships and use your AARP membership card or Balance Rewards card to receive these benefits.
To help you get familiar with the program, I have compiled a list of FAQ’s:
Q How do I sign up/earn points?
A: You can sign up for Walgreens Balance Rewards online or in-store. You don’t even need another card to keep track of (unless you like that sort of thing!) you can just use your phone number at the pin pad device at checkout.
Q: Does this mean I won’t get Register Rewards anymore?
A: NO! You will still earn Register Rewards coupons the same as before. This program is just an additional bonus savings plan where you will earn points in addition to any coupons/register rewards you would have used previously. The rest of their coupon policy remains unchanged.
Q: So if I earn points in a transaction, can I use them on the same transaction?
A: Unfortunately not. This is a pretty common policy among other stores reward systems. Just as you cannot use Register Rewards on the same transaction, you cannot use Balance Rewards points either.
Q: When do points expire?
A: As long as your card has been actively used in the last 6 months, the points are good for 3 years.
Q: I didn’t get my points or there is a problem with my points, what do I do?
A: You can request points online at Walgreens.com/Balance or on your mobile phone via the Walgreens mobile app. You can also call (855) 225-0400 to speak with customer service.
Hopefully this hits all the main questions/concerns you may have about the program. From what I can tell, you can use points in conjunction with Register Rewards and coupons when you are ready to redeem. You can redeem with as little as 5,000 points. For more detailed information, you can check out Walgreens Balance Rewards Help via their website. It seems like the program is just an added “cherry on top” feature to help you earn more savings while Walgreens earns your loyalty.
Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to help.
